TASK COFFEE
I have been involved in the design of TASK COFFEE in Chitose-Funabashi, Setagaya, since its opening. I started by designing a typeface as the foundation for the shop's visual identity. Through conversations with the owner, I was inspired by his approach to making coffee: “simplify” and “repeat.” I decided to use a set of rules to design the typeface, adjusting the rules rather than each letter. I think this choice to limit individual adjustments helped create a design that reflects the owner's personality. The finished typeface has a somewhat game-like feel, which also influenced the packaging artwork and the shop's guiding idea, “SAVE POINT.”
